Affiliate Disclaimer
In December 2009, the FTC released Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. The guidelines require that any affiliate who uses reviews, rankings or testimonials to promote products must clearly disclose the fact that they receive compensation for doing so.
Disclosure: please note that some of the links on my blog are affiliate links, and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase after clicking through the link.
So let’s talk about affiliate links.
Affiliate Links
Sometimes when I review a product, I will link to the company’s website using what’s known as an affiliate or referral link. Basically, if you end up buying a product that you found I would get a small commission from the vendor as a small “thank you.”
What is important to remember is the referral link doesn’t cost you a penny. The entire commission comes out of the vendor’s pocket not yours. So you wont be paying more for the product than you have to and none of your money comes to me if I should get a commission it will come from the vendor and not you!
I also would never recommend a product simply because it pays a commission because that would be wrong?
Please understand that I have experienced all of these companies, and I recommend them because they are helpful and useful, not because of the small commissions I may make if you decide to purchase something through my links. Please do not spend any money on these products unless you feel you need them or that they will help you achieve your goals.
All good? Great!
Other Examples of Affiliate marketing
Some of you may not have been aware but, lets say your at your dentist and he subscribes you some medicine or better yet he recommends you some medicine to take and he gives you a few sample pills to take then to buy them when they run out!
He is an affiliate with that pharmaceutical company.
Lets say your listening to your favorite talk radio show then when your favorite talk radio show goes to commercial sometimes you will hear him doing a on air paid spot-commercial where he or she will say to lose the weight to build muscle to fall asleep fast. You’ve heard these commercials but the host is speaking them . And youll notice he will say things use promo code the host for the special discount. Again he is affiliated with these sponsors and he gets a cut each time someone calls the line for some of his product.
Same thing with real estate you see a house you like you call your real estate agent show it to you then you buy it but , not so fast someone already listed the house so they will also get a percentage a commission if you should buy the house.
Or lets say your playing the lottery every time you play the lottery at your store the owner gets like 15 or 20 cents. If someone wins a big jackpot again the store is also gets a big payoff but does not take away from your earnings. Same thing at bank not really affiliate marketing but people tell you to use there atm but you then use it then you are charged 5 dollars from your bank and another 5 dollars from your bank . So you get what im saying there are many forms of affiliate marketing and if you do not realize it you may have used it without knowing so I just wanted to share this legal information with you so that you are fully aware and I am as upfront and transparent with you.
